FUN IN SCIENCE!!!
FUN IN SCIENCE!!!
3rd Quarter Units
During third quarter, we will be studying weather during our science block. Students will be observing weather daily and learning scientific vocabulary to describe weather events. Students are responsible for completing daily note pages in their science binders that correspond with the daily lesson. We will be doing some fun hands on science including creating Clouds in a Jar, a Heating Soil Experiment, and a Smoke Box experiment.
In math, we will being conducting a lengthy investigation of fractions. Students will compare, add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions. They will need to be able to find common denominators, simplify fractions, and convert from improper fraction to mixed fractions. We will work to develop conceptual understanding with algorithms so students may attack problem solving with fraction with a great tool box of strategies. Please check student's math binders for notes on the strategies that we use and for a sampling of the different types of problems they must be able to solve.
